Title: "What Happened??"

So I've been going to the haunted graveyard at Lake Compounce for many years, and always loved it; it seemed to get better and better. For 2021 Lake Compounce announced it would no longer have the event going forward, and that it would be replaced with Terror at Quassy. The original notification indicated it would be bigger and better. WRONG!! They simply ruined the experience with how it's laid out now. At Lake Compounce, the experience was a continuous circuit of scare scenes and motifs that really allowed one to get engrossed at a mental level. At Quassy, it's a series of small separate scenes scattered throughout the part. When I asked the staff where the start of the haunted house was, then gave me a map showing where all locations were marked by a letter and a name of the scene. They were poorly marked throughout the park, and it turned into more of a scavenger hunt, than a haunted house. It was very frustrating. It really broke the psychological momentum, and was not nearly as scary as before. On a plus side, the ticket included the rides, which was actually more entertaining. I really am curious as to the real back story as to why Lake Compounce stopped the event

We’ve been big fans of the lake compounce annual Halloween experience for many years. With covid last year and many people excited to finally get out and have some fun we talked it up and came with a group of 9 people to quassy. It was NOTHING like it has been — literally the most disappointing experience ever. The whole part of the fun was a continuous walk through the scary vignettes - this was so compartmentalized and only maybe a third or less if the original experience. Luckily the tickets included the rides so we stayed. Overall sadly disappointed and may come back in the summer but will not make the hike from norwalk again next year.
